Aurora & I took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather we've been having and made it all the way out to Isabella Lake & and hiked the short section of the Pow-Wow to the bridge.

Usually, the Tomahawk Road is not drivable until April or even May the past few years so, it was a unique experience to do so at the beginning of March. Although, we were by no means the 1st people to get back there this year. We even ran across some people ice fishing and they said there's open water but also up to 18 inches of ice in places. Still, that's way ahead of what there would normally be.

I was flabbergasted pulling into the Gabbro lot (which also is usually snowed in) as it was "packed" with vehicles (about 7-8). There is very little snow remaing in the woods but we were acutely aware of all the hills on this rolling portage as the main trail was mostly thick frozen ice. Still, it was an exhilarating day taking advantage of the unique seasonal opportunity of being in the woods and enjoying God's grandeur together.

First ‘trip’ of the year. I love getting out in the early spring to witness the transition to open water. Doesn’t look too promising yet.
Thanks for sharing!

Looks like a good day out and about, TB. Thanks for sharing the photos of your time together and a status update on the snow conditions.
