keep in mind that a new bridge was installed between yellow and little yellow that allows even large pontoon boats to go from big yellow up the river, Much more crowded than it used to be.

Great information.. I was mostly fishing for info to make sure it was a navigable paddle. We have a cabin on Big Yellow, and I am thinking of a 70 mile trip starting at Yellow Lake, through the Yellow River, portage around the Dam in Danbury, connect to the St. Croix river and paddle the Croix to St. Croix Falls. Planning on a 3-4 nighter. Appreciate the intel!

We did the stretch from Norman's Landing Road to the next bridge at Whistler Road. Nice area. Caught a few small mouth. We had my Champlain and don't remember bottoming out at all.

Haven't paddled a lot of it, mostly from the lake to a couple miles past the Fort. Plenty of water if that's the concern. It's certainly navigable and can't imagine needing a camp site before getting to the Croix. It runs through private lands.

Best kept secret: That area of the St. Croix is lousy with fish. The hour between sunset and dark can be insane.

Non-BWCA trip question....
Reaching here, but checking if anyone has ever paddled the Yellow River in Wisconsin between Yellow Lake and Danbury? Planning on a trip down the St. Croix River and would like to start on the Yellow and connect to the National Scenic Riverway where it dumps in north of Danbury.
If anyone has ever paddled this, would love any intel if it is even possible.
