Did anyone get any new goodies?

I went today and purchased a pair of Solomon Hiking shoes which were on sale. I saved $35 plus I used my dividend. The line to check-out was around the corner and down the hall and it took approximately 35 minutes. I guess the wait was worth the savings. I've never seen that place so crazy. I'd have to say that the staff was doing an amazing job under the circumstances. I guess now that Midwest Mountaineering is gone, REI likely got some additional traffic. I did find it interesting that several people in the check-out line were purchasing Bear Vaults.

Grabbed a pair of Keen hiking shoes and a pair of Fjallraven shorts. Didn’t realize a sale was going on. Wondered why the lot was oddly full when I pulled in! lol

Ended up buying a Sealine Pro pack, using my rewards and the sale I sent $29... I also grabbed a few carabiners too,
Snagged a UR Sack last year in their garage sale section for $60 but used some of my rewards at the time and it only cost me $30 bucks.

No disrespect intended but I cringe when I hear about folks bringing axes up to the BWCA. Totally unnecessary and dangerous, especially with inexperienced campers. The rule is dead and down wood wrist size or smaller and that works just fine up there. Go to Sierra Trading website and buy a Morakniv knife for $15, saw the wood into 10 inch lengths and have fun splitting it with your Morakniv knife (called Batoning). Very effective and much safer. And you will have extra money leftover for something else fun. Just a thought. "
I enjoy using an axe.

No disrespect taken/interpreted. This one is 19" and it's intended to be used on your knees so the chance for ricochet or a missed swing have very little opportunity to come back your way. I use it in softer soil areas as well so if I miss, it's going in the dirt. I'd consider myself extremely experienced with camping and processing wood and I always take the necessary precautions.
I have brought a kukri before, which seems to be larger than the Morakniv, and the reason I bring the axe is because it just seems to be a bit more efficient in processing wood for me.
And like fadersup said, I also enjoy using an axe. "
Just going there to begin with is full of risks. It's OK to mention some of these risks because some people never really considered it, but if they know the risk and accept it that's OK too.

Absolutely. lindylair and I just have different preferences and experiences. No big deal at all.
I just feel more comfortable bringing an axe because who can say I won't run into sasquatch and who can say he won't be hostile?

I won’t wait in that line. I still love to go to the store to try items on for fit and to look gear over for quality, but if the line is like that I just make a list and then order online when I get home. Week days on non-sale times are usually fine, but weekends and almost any time within the big fall/spring sales, no thanks.

I won’t wait in that line. I went all bear on this sale. I got a BV500 because it was 20% off and then used my 20% off coupon on an Ursack AllMitey 20 liter size. This will be our first hard sided bear canister. Should be interesting to see how we like it. Some of our older Ursacks predate the IGBC approval and so don't comply with the new order and we also need raccoon protection around here in California. That makes the extra protection of the AllMitey useful. All my older Ursacks are 10 liter size. So this will be an interesting step up to a larger size. All purchased on rebate funds that were just sitting in our account.
