Huh?!?

That can't be right, can it?"

I saw a 12 person canoe in the Q once. What a chore to portage.

It doesn't seem right, does it? Especially if they were fishing. Likely more to this story.

Maybe they indeed had a large canoe. But as mentioned earlier, apart from the Quetico youth groups, these sorts of vessels are extremely rare in Quetico. And the missing fellow is too old to be a youth. Plus, he's American. Doesn't fit the profile.

Who knows? It could have been two canoes of three and the media statement is wrong. Not much info has been released so we can only speculate.

Not good. It's been a rough year - too many canoeists in distress.

Any idea if the missing was wearing a PFD?

Two boats carrying four people turned over and one person was not found. It was a group of six and two of them were in camp. They were from Indiana. I heard it on the radio and got a report from someone who saw them afterward.

Canadian TV reports that they have recovered the body of the young man and he was not wearing a pfd, although others in his party were.

I sure wish the reports would include critical information like this. Not to "blame" anyone but to help educate and prevent more tragedies!!

Yea, usually those bigger canoes in the Q are youth groups. I’ve run into them a few times as well.
