Maybe she’ll show up at the gunflint lodge. It’s Sunday so they are probably smoking some meat

Unfortunate. I hope the dog is found and it's owners get well. Excellent, I see someone contacted the Retrievers.

Edit. I would also contact any outfitters in the area as well as the USFS. And maybe police/first responders and the local radio stations as well.

Missing

Lessie went missing on the Gunflint Trail near The Gunflint Lodge on 6/28/24. Her family was in a serious accident and she bolted from the vehicle. She is very scared and her owners are hospitalized. If you see her please be calm and gentle. Get low, toss out treats and look to the side, let her come to you. If she shows fear just walk away and call or text the number. Let’s get this girl safe so her family can heal

Awful quiet, if ha stayed close to roads there isn't a lot of places to go without being seen.

One of the great benefits of working with this group, The Retrievers, is they have a ton of experience and well honed skills at organizing such searches. I'd bet my canoe they quickly contacted the Sheriff, GTVFD, and WTIP, and that signs and posters were going up quickly. They also have studied the science of catching lost dogs. Instinctively many of us want to call their name and walk toward them, but they can quickly go into survival mode and avoid you as if it were a wolf. Best bet is to use the scent from their humans, avoid eye contact, act submissive and non-threating, and patiently let the dog come to you. Acting like you are eating or actually eating will help, and food can do a lot to get them to you. I got some training from The Retrievers and have helped on 3 or 4 dog searches. I remember cut up pieces of hot dogs soaked in liquid smoke was the golden candy to get them to come to you.

Fingers crossed for a quick and safe recovery of this poor girl. Dogs are amazingly good survivors, even in the wild. I'm optimistic, given the location of where she went missing.

218-940-7615.

Please report any sightings right away. And if you do not have cell coverage, please stop and tell one of the lodges/outfitters who may be able to report it faster.

Thanks for volunteering. All dogs deserve the chance to be found.

Hospitalized and your dog is missing? That's a bad day. Hoping for the best, GSD are hardcore.
