I am trying to tread lightly here; butt can this great forum page keep walking the balance beam and ignore the plea of many. This forum exists because of the BWCA-no other reason. Thanks all you moderators. Some can bare the losses some like myself, finding it hard to grope with it. The issue is much more important than I will ever be. How do we move forward-we can't bury are head in the sand forever. |

ockycamper: "I hear your concerns. I also hear the concerns of those that are greatly concerned with the national debt and want a much smaller government that operates on a budget. Maybe we can do both. However many peoples "oxs" are going to get gored in the process of pulling the national debt into line. " Thanks for your diplomatic response. We have to keep open minds and our cordial minds operating but not bury are heads in the sand. You take a surgical knife, not a machete in cutting procedures. The Department of the Interior’s National Park Service released a new report that finds visitor spending in communities near national parks in 2023 resulted in a record high $55.6 billion benefit to the nation’s economy and supported 415,400 jobs. ?This does not include income produced outside the main hub of the park. This will be up substantially in 2024. The National parks budget is 0.0006% of the total budget and then you can also subtract income they brought in. Some parks have a net income. |
