Just got back from a Portage Lake Entry trip. Even though we had cool temps and wet weather, we never had a fire. Anyway, I think this picture is from June of 2006. It is on Sawbill Lake when Jim/WI and I were doing the Temperance River Loop starting out at Baker Lake.

Wilderness paddler that is an awesome pic, reminds me of why I go camping. soukup85 is nice, as long as you don't worry about forest fires. that's a lot of wood over the grate.

Can there be a bad picture of a campfire. Even these pictures are mesmerizing. 10 days and I can take a new picture of the campfire.

Lake One on the last day of a nine day trip, September 2006. I had been on the other side of the island photographing the sunset and returned to find Spartan1 lost in thought, letting the fire burn up high, and wondering when I would come back so we could hang the packs. We usually go in June, so the short days in September were a challenge. The last campfire of a good trip is always bittersweet.

Jeez guys, most of these pictures are of really big "white man's" fires...I enjoy a smaller flame, one that won't torch the place up...

Hey Beemer01
That’s not a campfire, it’s just smoke. It’s also a gorgeous shot! Love it.
Just a comment on soukup85’s. It’s probably just me but I’d be too ashamed to post that shot. Burning loose branches on top of the fire grate is not a good idea. Too bad, if the flame was only about half that high it would have been a real beauty. Again, that's just my opinion, take it for what it's worth.

Well, several shots have a nice sized fire. Wallidave, that shot is absolutely gorgeous, a real beauty. Also an honorable mention to DeterminedOrange, very nice composition.
