canoepaddle,
Seeing a wolf in the wild is a rarity. But getting a shot like that...nicely done!

Fire on Pine Portage Bay peninsula - our Quetico trip 9/10 - 9/16.
It was amazing to see the smoke from this fire from a couple miles away and then get right up to it as we paddled our way to Dore' Lake just about 6 days ago!

Congrats to Ely Bound. I'm still trying to figure out how you got all the waves to look like clouds. From my experience it would never be calm enough for a reflection. Seems like the wind is always blowing from the direction I'm going.

Thanks a lot for all of the comments about the September photo! She is sitting on a rock outcropping about six feet above the water, at a campsite on Lake Two. Opportunities like this are one of the many things I like about the Boundary Waters. After this photo was taken we canoed into Lake Three. The clouds eventually lightened up, but the water surface stayed mirror-smooth. Spectacular place.

Misty,
I'm sure glad that my fire wasn't that huge! If the smoke I saw was as big as your picture, no way would I have gotten right up near the shoreline to take pictures! I was only 8 feet away. Your fire would have melted my canoe! :-)
Nice photo!
