Up until 3 years ago did I believe in Bigfoot? Hell no. No forensic evidence, never any remains found, some hair found that has been though DNA tests by this gal in TX but apparently the findings weren't earth shattering enough to make the nightly news. No Proof. Doesn't exist. Then one morning I found myself on top of Scotts Bluff in Nebraska. HOT BED for BF activity!! .. I can hear you laughing through the internets (copyright George Bush). It was 7am in the morning and for anyone that has every been up there it's a very curvy drive that takes at least 15 mins. Its probably longer and I don't remember so I'm cutting it short to remove drama. When you arrive at the top of the bluff there is a small parking lot. Enough to hold about 20 cars. On this morning? I was the only car there. To hike up the bluff from the base (ranger station) would have to take hours. At least 2, so either what I'm about to talk about walked up at 5am and was doing a record morning exercise program, or the person had walked up days before to camp on top of the bluff and was out for an early stroll. In either scenario it must have been a joke that they decided to play because all that work to get to that location, they decided on the off chance that maybe, maybe ONE person would drive up to the top of the bluff and see them in their Bigfoot crafted suit. I watched them walk perpendicular to me right to left, I said .. NO .. NO .. Im seeing things. I kept my camera in my pocket and said NO .. Im seeing things. They / it / whatever disappeared behind the trees to my left and it was over. I went to get in my car and drive down the bluff then .. it came back down the same path it had come from. This time I said .. I'll take pictures. Actually I wanted to do a video and I messed around with that but couldn't get it to work and in a last ditch effort changed back to camera and snapped a few photos. You can call me what ever you want. But either I have seen Bigfoot or an elaborate hoax at the top of somewhere where it makes no sense to pull a hoax. Now .. Can I still go to wingnight before I'm kicked off the site for insanity? LOL |

I lived in Washington state for several years and absolutely believe my wife and I saw a bigfoot at Tolmie State Park in Olympia, WA. So much so that I picked up our son and we ran down the trail away from it until we got back to the parking lot. |

Actually, that would be one of the less elaborate hoaxes pulled on mankind. Remember Piltdown Man? How about the first crop circles? Crop circles still appear in England, mainly for the purpose of encouraging local tourism. Remember this picture, from 2008, of a supposed body of a bigfoot? When I was in my early teens I lived in Trinity County in northern California, an area so sparsely populated that the county still does not have a single stop light to this day, 53 years later. I originally posted this account of my experience, following a hoax, six years ago. Here it is again: "One of the more deeply imprinted memories of my lifetime comes from when I was 13 years old, living in Trinity County, of northern California. The local newspaper had just, days earlier, come out with glaring headlines about a bigfoot-like creature that had torn up a construction camp over at Willow Creek. The newspaper had devoted two full pages, interspaced with photos of equipment and 55-gallon drums that had, apparently, been tossed around as if it was nothing more than match-sticks. Footprints were also noted. On this day, I was out by myself in the woods, as I often was at that age. I had stopped walking, for some long-forgotten reason, and was on my knees or sitting down. All of a sudden, I became aware of footsteps coming towards me through the dry leaves. The footsteps, slow and deliberate, came closer and closer and yet, I could not see the source. I was frozen, afraid to twitch, my single-shot .22 leveled in the direction of the approach. Just when I thought the creature approaching me would have to appear in front of me, the sound of crunching dry leaves stopped. Then ....nothing. I waited, getting stiff from not having moved for several minutes. I knew something was watching me from a very short distance away and I was scared stiff, my mind going back to the newspaper article of a couple of days earlier. After several minutes of total silence, a deep cough nearly caused me to jump out my pants, but I did not move, my weapon locked at eye-level. More time passed, although it was probably less than it seemed to me at the time. All of a sudden the footsteps began again but it only took a few moments for me to realize that they were going away, not toward me. I listened as the steps receded. When I could no longer hear them, I got up and took a few steps in the direction of home. Then, I broke into a run and kept it up. I became the distance runner I had never been before and did not stop until I approached a residential area. I remember going into the house and telling my parents what had happened. I also remember my father turning to my mother and asking her, "have you ever heard an old doe snort?" Having spent a great deal of time around deer since that episode, I am now very familiar with their habits and sounds. There is no doubt that I had had an encounter with a curious deer. Today, there is a statue of a sasquatch in Willow Creek deriving from the goings-on in that construction camp. Today, I am 60 and I will never forget how that statue came to be there. When I go into the woods today, I don't worry about Sasquatch. After all, there is probably a mountain lion watching me." Disclaimer: I am no longer 60 years old :( and while I don't worry about encountering Bigfoot in the woods, I do worry about hairy bipeds in dark alleys. |

okinaw55: "I really want to say I saw Bigfoot at the top of Scottsbluff in NE and I got some really crappy pictures but that would make me crazy so no .. I didn't see anything .. nope." That's OK. Your pics are probably good. Bigfoot is blurry. |

Blatz: "According to mom who grew up in Biwabik in the 30s. There was a Big Foot like creature called the White Face Monster. Seen by the White Face reservoir. " Having camped at Whiteface a lot as a kid, there always seemed to be a creepy feeling in the woods. Probably my child imagination, but now I know... it was the White Face Monster! MT |

Camera's are the best Bigfoot repellent that there is. Buy a throw away, sit it next to the fire ring and you will never ever have a Bigfoot in your campsite. |
