The campsite on that larger island was a real crap hole from winter campers when I camped there at ice out last May. Cut bow beds... several fires outside the firepit... burnt sardine tins and beverage cans. Gave me a sour taste for winter campers."

We camped off the beaten path. far away from summer sites. Did not inspect any summer sites. Did not see anybody else while camping.
I am deeply ashamed for others who disrespected the wilderness:(

My first trip winter camping was to Kawishiwi Lake. Even at 25* below zero without a tent, it was one of my best camping experiences ever!

As with all things a couple of bad apples. Don't let that taint your opinin of those of us that are responsible. I would assume caned food is still not premited in the winter. So right there that group was breaking the rules, can happen with summer campers too.
