hi I am going on my honeymoon and would like to find an entry point with a waterfall. I have done two prior short trips into BWCA.... but I am up for a challenge. I would like to stay on the Ely side if possible. thank you in advance for any provided info

Easy to get to falls from Newton to Basswood. Water should be ripping through there with high water

Maybe this will help you decide?

Check out Kawishiwi Falls just East of Ely on the Fernberg Road. Just a 1/2 mile walk into it from the parking lot. There was lots of water going over it Memorial Day Weekend.

you can never go wrong with Curtain falls and the many little one's on the way there going through the Beartrap river.

I am not so familiar with falls on the Ely side but if you expand to consider the Gunflint area, Johnson Falls is a classic. Pretty easily accessed from either the West or East, a 10 minute hike through the woods at the west end of Pine Lake, and really pretty. There are actually two falls there, different but both very nice. Great swimming hole at the base of the lower falls. If alone there(with new spouse), I could see it being very "romantic".
This was a mid-August flow two years ago.
