Nice photo's and it would great to be young again and join the crews.
Wonder how many states were there. Seen a crew from Colorado when I was in town.

They were also using a chainsaw and a large motor boat too. I think we could make an exception for these guys and the work they are doing to save the area we all so love."

The large motorboat was on Burntside, not in the BWCA.
I agree with exceptions, but that is common sense and there isn't much of that with many of the BWCA regulations.
An example of that was the suggestion that loggers be allowed to go in and cut the blowdowns after the straight line winds knocked down all the trees in 1999.
Environmentalist screamed that chainsaws and motorized equipment was not to be allowed to do this.
With that lack of common sense, all of these massive fires have resulted.
And don't even get me going on the cell tower fiasco!!!!!! :(

If you look at the top of the fire there is a monitor on top. The company I work for makes those and many many many other pieces of equipment used to fight fires. Glad to see it is being put to good use in the BW.

This was up at Crab Lake. Here are a few more. The one is on the portage to Burntside.

I need one of those water cannons for when you are racing another group across the lake for the best camp site.

Seriously, would it not be fun to have a couple of those on a hot day with a bunch of people in canoes. One person paddling, one with the hose. Last canoe upright wins.

That's a novel way to propel a canoe.

25+ years of firefighting and many of them in the BW I've never seen that trick. Not sure if it is very efficient, they are using a Mark III pump, they are known to be temperamental and have issues. Besides being very noisy.

I would not want to be in that boat listening to those decibels, even with ear plugs in. I doubt that they could hear their dispatch radio either. But enough Monday morning QB, it does look fun.
