I agree it's way easier packing for a solo, nobody adding things you don't need, less thinking and more doing, plus you don't have to entertain someone, way less thinking involved, no feelings to hurt but your own.

Yep, a lot easier. Easier to plan and execute without all the coordinating too.

1. My Tea and powdered milk
2. My rain fly
3. My suzzie bug net (the black fly were thick)
4. My chair with a foot stool (I thought if I was bringing a chair I might as well bring a good one)
"

I was thinking you lucked out on the rain, but got the flies.

My "essentials" are about the same - bug house tarp, chair (half bear vault), weather/fm radio, coffee on canister stove. Knot tying books on iphone.

I still like to try to have a fire - but I didn't last time.

I don't know, I leave in a couple weeks, and I am still arguing with myself over what I should take...

It's never a true solo if you have multiple personalities ;), or a dog.

I think it is easier to pack for solos, but when I do travel with someone or a group, pretty much all of the gear is mine anyway.

I am headed out for my solo to the Q on June 7. I am also headed out of town for a wedding for much of next week so took advantage of some time today to pack for my solo.
Every time I do it I am amazed at how much easier it is to pack up for a solo vs a group trip. I don't worry about who is bringing what since I am bringing everything. No lists to look at in terms of who is bringing what gear. No worry about someone being disappointed because I forgot something, even though I have never forgotten anything of significance. I only use dehydrated food for dinner on a solo so a lot less kitchen stuff to pack. Yep, a lot easier.
