Did you see many other people?"

Cant wait for another one! Going to try for a 12-14 day fall trip. Hopefully it works out. Summer is really busy for me for work and to be honest I like the cooler months. Didn't see but a few canoes go by in the distance the first 5-6 days then it got busy by the day I headed out. So busy that I was caught at dark with no available campsite to crash at. so it was either a ton of portaging into the night on a whim of an available site on Birch Lake or put my tent on the rocky portage landing for the night. Thank god for sleeping pads."

The June-August crowds in the BW bum me out; stressing out about finding a spot after a long day of paddling defeats the purpose of paddling. As a teacher, the only times I can trip are during the months of June-August, so I pretty much only go to Quetico these days.

As others have said, your video was awesome! Thanks for sharing.

Jaywalker, I certainly do remember you. Ya my wife gave me guff for never smiling but most of the time you forget the camera is even there when your fishing. I also never noticed how much I tend to pucker my lips HAHAHA.

It is amazing how fast 10 days can go when you are living I. The moment. Looks like a great trip.

All those fish and we don't see you smile until you snag a stick? Pretty awesome fishing shots!

I recognised your packs in the video. We passed each other at the portage between Birch and Carp - I had finished up on Knife and you were on your way in (I had the red canoe & black dog). Next time you see a flying moose on a hat say hello. Gospursgo was ahead of me by an hour or two so you must have passed him too.

Frenchie, That is exactly what i would do if I feared of running into crowds. Go deeper in.
Thats what I like about a basecamp is I have ample time to experience an area in case I get stuck with a couple sour days. Really looking forward to finding a good Fall trip location and chase some bunnies and Grouse.

Great video. Got a couple of ideas for camp from you too. Looks like the fishing was pretty good.

Fishing was fantastic. Was catching all my lakers up near the surface 5-6 feet down while trolling big flat raps for Pike. 10 days went way too fast and just didn't get to everything I wanted to do but you know how that goes.

quote TomT: "Very nice. Grand Slam fishing! Some really fat smallies. I like your bushcraft skills too. The pole hanging the pot was pretty cool. I would never go so far to make the hangers. Too much work. How many camps did you make?

Bonus for some really cool songs on the soundtrack. That REM song is what got me to be a huge fan throughout the 80's. I was shocked to hear it. I made a best of REM cassette that I took on car trips to the BW from '84 till about 2011.

Tom I had lost radio reception awhile on the drive up then all of a sudden that song came on loud and clear and hadn't heard it in a long time so it was fitting to add I thought! I base camped, so after 3 days of having my stuff all over the ground I'd had enough. I built a shelf too to hold things thats less noticeable. It was a day of rain and heavy wind so I stayed under the tarp and organized haha!
