+1 to what Boonie said - and that really does sound like a great upcoming adventure. I gotta get up there one of these days.

I have done over 40 trips into Quetico and being a Canuck I have gone in at all the northern entry points from French to Lac La Croix, But I had never done a trip to the SE corner. So this spring I went down the Gunflint Trail and entered at Cache Bay. I did the Falls Chain then cut through Wet, McKwen, Louisa and over to South. I then came back through PP , Carp and the Man chain, a side trip into Blackstone and then out through Ottertrack. It was a good trip with plenty of time to explore. Now I can say I have done over 80 percent of Quetico.

I had three injuries a sprained wrist on day 5 from a fall, a cracked filling on day 9 and a mysterious pain in the side on Day 10. But none of them slowed me down. The weather was varied with cool and wet conditions the first week and warm to hot conditions the second week. The bugs were less bothersome than normal but I was glad I had my bug shirt.

I guess my favorite lake was Blackstone and the campsite on the point. Some of the Man Lakes and Emerald would rank a close second. Louisa Falls is definitely worth seeing. Except for the border lakes I didn't see anyone.

I start my 23 day solo trip in mid August going to Beaverhouse, Quetico, Jean, Bent Pine, Sturgeon, Maximus, Fred, Camel, Metacryst, Cutty, Sark, Heronshaw, Kawnipi, Montgomery, Alice, Russell, Lonely, Jesse and out Nym. This is a short trip and it will give plenty of time to explore some of my favorite off track lakes and hit my favorite fishing spots. Even though none of this is new territory, it contains many of my favorite campsites and fishing holes. I can't wait.

I'm glad all the injuries/ailments were minor. It sounds like a good, enjoyable trip. I hope the next one goes even better. I'm thinking I'd like to do a long solo of about 3 weeks also and next year or the year after may be the year.
