Glad you could spend the time you did up here. I couldn't imagine missing a winter away from Minnesota. I have enjoyed a few breaks from it. But always can't wait to be home. Your book sounds like a very interesting read. Let us know when you publish. No boat is tranquil in those conditions. My old encounter came close, but oh what a ride!

"Discover the Power Within You" By Eric Butterworth It's an older book but still relevant.

Everybody has a place or thing that resonates with them... It will be a lot of photos, poetry and essays, directly and indirectly related to my personal life journey. Kind of a spiritual quest. There will be a lot of Quetico, but not what most would expect. More of an emphasis on what many take for granted, yet if they slow down, can see the beauty and depth.

quote mapsguy1955: "My intention was to base camp for 10 nights... I really wanted to clear my head, take a lot of photos, read a specific book, and write / journal a lot. I'm working on a book that I intend to be ready to publish sometime mid year. I wish the weather had been a little better, but even a rainy day in the Q is better than a regular day in South Florida!"

Which book did you read?

mapsguy,
Care to share what your book is about that you are writing, or perhaps a short excerpt?
Just curious.

Being stuck in one place with bad weather is never fun. How do you fill the time?
Glad you got the moose experience, that is a once in a lifetime most of us will never know.

Well the moose part sounds good.
Any lake trout success in Buckingham?

This wasn't a real fishing trip, but I have had some in the past there... Usually smaller fish though!

Just finished a twofer. 8 nights with my son on a Nym to Chatterton to Stanton followed the next day by a solo for 11 nights from Stanton and back to Stanton... The solo was a base camp mostly in Buckingham (9 nights) and then 2 nights out.

Had a lot of inclement weather (both trips) and a quite hairy Pickerel experience (solo) with probably 40 mph winds for about an hour, though 15 minutes of that was thankfully, from the shore. EVERY wave was a whitecap...

Highlight was the two moose about 50 feet behind my tent LOUDLY going at it at about 5 in the morning, my first night. It is/was rutting season!

Canoe was Souris River Tranquility, though there is NOTHING tranquil about it when unloaded or in multi directional waves.

Ready for the next one, next year maybe!
