GraniteCliffs: "My 2018 solo is set. Plan an August 14 entry to the Q. Up Agnes and down and out through Kash. Driving up with a friend who will do the reverse route. We will meet back on Sunday for our 5th night. Time to start planning. "
I did this route in reverse about 3 years ago in May. I remember it snowed on me on Kahsh. There is a great cliff site about 3/4s of the way up the lake. Portages were clogged with blowdown but not too bad to cut your way through. You will be going later in the season so that probably won't be a problem. I camped at the top of Kawnipi on a point that probably is only good for one tent site but it was perfect for my needs. There are better sites I believe down around Kasie Island. Others can give you better advice on Kawnipi -- I haven't been there near as much as I'd like! Keewatin pictos were definitely worth the trip alone.

I like August.....weather is typically stable and the bugs have largely burnt off. Fishing can be harder but I have adapted and can still do good. Good luck, have fun.

Some nice territory and with the dog days of summer you hopefully will have no big winds down those lakes. I can recall a nice poncho liner sail down Kash in '79. Enjoy.

Thanks for thoughts. I love the campsite on Kash you mention. Looks crappy from the water but we have always referred to it as the Grand Hotel. I have my campsites figured out as I have been on these lakes many times. I am mostly worried about having the physical ability to make it up and around and back to Sunday Lake in time to meet my friend the fifth night. I could drop back through Payne and Hurlburt or head to Kash via the Trant Lake Cutoff but my mind is focused on going all the way around. I am getting older, 67 when I go, but the trip has morphed into a challenge for me. Nothing like a new adventure and challenge to keep one young.
