I plan to make a decision on my entry date by April 30 which is Saturday. I am planning on reserving a satellite phone and I have to reserve by April 30 in order to get a good price on one. I used to take a SPOT but this year it will be different. It is good peace of mind for both me and my wife. So that being said, I am still flexible on the entry date and duration. I am able to cover 10-15 miles per day weather permitting. Dick

I just reserved my entry permit for June 15, 2011 for entry point #25 and have a satellite phone rented for that date also. So everything is a go and I am looking forward to the trip. I will be out at least a week and plan to cover some miles. According to Robert Beymer's book (route #25-2) I will be doing about 62 miles, 25 lakes,4 ponds, 1 river, 1 creek and 28 portages. I will be double portaging. I have had no takers on my offer to this point, so I will go it alone and enjoy it just the same. I hope to do a trip report sometime later in the year. Dick

I am considering a solo loop in late June from Moose to Knife, Ottertrack and back through Kekakabic, etc. I have gone solo before but am wondering if there would be one or two others interested in joining me. We could each pull our own permits and have all our own gear, etc. and either enter together or meet up at some point. If anyone has an interest we could meet at a local Twin Cities area coffee shop and discuss our goals and see if we would be compatible travelers. Dick

Dick, how long do you think it would take to do this route? How long are you planning to be out on this trip? What are your priorities for the trip?

I'm doing the same thing about on May 16th... June I'm in the WCPP for 12 days and will be visited by my grandkids right after. I like doing such trips and wish I could do it.

Sevenofnine,
The route through this area can be somewhat flexible as there are many options. I am planning on 5-7 days in the wilderness. Of course anyone wishing to go would be free to stay the entire route or leave early and that would be up to the individual. I am 63 years old and in fairly good shape but I usually don't push too hard. I hope to be able to do some fishing and exploring as I have not seen this entire area; only a portion on a previous trip. The entire loop is around 60 miles but there are all kinds of options to cut it short if one so desires to. I have done a solo before and while I like solo I also like the idea of having someone else along to chat with. Dick
