Above and beyond a couple lighters I bring numerous pill bottles of strike anywhere matches.

Kid sleeping bag and old Thermarest for Bernice.

Extra pots I rarely use

Rod and reel - never seem to care to use them anymore.
I too squirrel away a Bic 4-pack.
Too much fuel.
Extra reading glasses.
And most surprisingly, too much booze. On my solo's I drink a lot less than when socializing with others around the fire.

Obviously if you carry too much booze you need to ditch the nonessential items... Like food...

A few things if you exclude a chair I would consider are extra. Like a 3-4 lighters scattered around different locations. I picked up a magnesium block and flint and steel. A jet boil stove on top of the regular stove I have. A small chive knife. And a tarp.

After breaking a knob on my portage yoke I no longer consider a multi-tool an extra.

I think we can agree that at some point we take more of a particular item or type of item than we need. Case in point I carry four knives of different types because they all have what I would consider a different use. I could very easily get by with two but I don't. Are there items that you carry multiples of that you could get by with only one or at most two? Duplicates of clothes and food items are not to be considered. I'm looking at hardware/camping items.

probably too much rope--- though I use just about all of it everytime,, and any unused usually has a use that didn't get used. duct tape.

Flashlights. I take 3 - a headlamp, a 2 AA flashlight and a single AA flashlight.

I also take 4 knives (if I'm fishing) - sheath knife, Swiss Army knife, Escape knife, and a filet knife.

Always tackle! When I have live bait with, all I really need is plain jig heads, and bobber/sinker/hooks. Every trip I review the contents of my tackle box and think I may use this or that but never really do.

I do this, too, and then I usually ending up using the same one the entire time. LOL!

(But last time I did have one that did not work...just proved that I really DO need to stash all those babies, LOL)

I never use the 6 crank sites or all the jigs I take.

I'm like Pineknot, gotta have spare glasses, both reading and sun. And batteries for the headlamp and flashlight. An extra spool of fishing line.

The only thing I brought on my solo that I could've left home was a small extending tripod for the camera. The gorilla pod was all I needed.

I bring my Schrade Uncle Henry every trip despite the fact I haven't used it in probably 10 years. It's heavy, the only knife I use is a delrin "butter" knife and my 3 blade Swiss knife. (scissors, knife blade, file)
Flashlights = headlamp, LED, visor LED, and the old standby I rarely use any more, the Maglite which I should really leave home.
Always bring two pairs of hoof covers and always use them, .
lightweight boots and hiking boots for camp.
If I am fishing, two rods and a spare reel for each..
3 match containers stored in different packs. (two duluth, one fanny)
3 toilet paper stashes stored in 3 different packs.
3 sinks (just kidding)
