Very excited. Was able to get my wife's permission (no small matter due to some AFIB issue on my June trip), switch some things at work, borrow my neighbors solo canoe and head north this Tuesday after work for a quick solo! Get to stay the first night with my friend at his cabin on Lake Vermilion, where I grew up. I am really looking forward to it. Heading in from Mudro. Good weather forecast to boot. Awesome!

One of the quickest, farthest solos I have done. Drove north from the Cities Wednesday, arrived at my friends cabin on Lake Vermilion about 7. Had a quick dinner and several glasses of wine, great time catching up with him.
Up at 6, to Ely and Mudro by 8:30 Thursday a.m. Went to Lower Basswood Falls. Made it to a site two campsites east of Table Rock on Crooked and set up for the night.
Up early the next day, shot by Table Rock, Thursday and Friday Bays and headed south. Finished the long Wagosh Portage and was tired. Ran into two separate groups that both said it would be raining and 30 mile an hour winds the early the next morning. I paddled on and hit the Mudro Entry just before dusk. Loaded up and took off. It was indeed raining and was blowing hard by 5 a.m. so I was glad I came out.
One night, two days and a long time on the water.
Not what I expected but it was a great time.
