I would just call them to find out the weight.

I wonder how much one of those 4 gallon (15-liter) barrels would weigh?

Do you have a link? I've never heard of one and could only find a 15 GAL one listed, which would be 60 L.

Another thought for you though - TomT has used the Vittles Vault from Petco. Check out his trip reports.

The vittles vault works great but you can't collapse it like an ursack. It is firm and you can't crush anything inside so it does have that going for it. It is perfect for me doing a 9 or 10 day trip. I've just stashed it under a bush off the trail and away from camp. Using lopsacks inside for any food that might leave an oder is a good idea too. This is what I use.

I've never seen one before . Saw one on eBay tonight. I figured if anyone has used one it would be someone in this group. Seems like the perfect size for a solo. Has anyone used one and how did it work . Im thinking for a 10 day solo it would be the perfect food storage system. I know there is a good chance the size is not quit right knowing how eBay is sometimes. One of my trips will include going through the south arm of knife and sometimes after a long day on the water I'm bad about hanging my food

Well, I found a couple of things that are close:

5 gallon (about 20 liters): 5.3 Gallon

Here is a 4 gallon, which is about 15 liters: 4 Gallon

2.6 gallon - about 10 liters: 2.6 gallon

We occasionally buy some small plastic jars from the company for packaging samples. They are a large and reputable company. No affiliation whatsoever.

There are a lot of other companies that sell various types of containers as well. We don't buy very often, so we don't waste our time trying to find the best deal on what little we buy.
