Be careful. Solo tripping is addictive. I originally thought I would get solo tripping out of my system once I did 1 solo. However the trip was life changing. I will be doing my third and 4th solo this summer in my own solo canoe.

I think you made an excellent choice.

I have been wanting to try solo canoeing for a few years now and this past weekend I took the plunge and bought myself a new Wenonah Wilderness in royalex. It wasn't my first choice but I just couldn't justify the price of a kevlar boat over a royalex boat for my part of the country (Tennessee). My wife and I are making our first trip to BWCA this year and if I like it I am planning a solo trip for my 40th birthday. I would like to say think you to all of you, I don't have anything to add to the discussions on the solo forum but I enjoy reading and seeing your adventures.

Thanks for the kind words. I got to spend some time with the new solo this week and after some adjustments and playing around I think its going to be a keeper. I need to build a portage yoke for it and finish rigging it, but I think the first trip will be at the end of the month.

Have a ball with your Wilderness! Even if you do not find solo tripping to your taste, the solo canoe will get you out much more for several hours of fun at a time.
