Have a good trip and be safe, If I wasn't getting ready for my trip in 24 days, I'd be doing the same thing, I love the early season for solo camping.

Ok everything is packed! If I can sneak out of work a little early tomorrow solo over nighter is going to turn into a two nighter. I would like to think everyone on the solo forum for giving me the encouragement in this post and through the other pictures and post.

I have decided that this weekend will be my first solo overnighter. I have been dealing with a very stressful couple of months at work and have only been getting a few hours of sleep a night. This weekend down here in Tennessee is going to be high in the mid 70 and lows in the mid 40 and raining. I am loading up the new solo boat with a couple of days of provisions, hammock, up/tq, tarp, axe, bushcraft knife and find me an island a few miles from anyone. Man I can't wait!

Sounds like you have the solution. Early enough yet for no bugs? Campfires and cool weather. Can't beat that for relaxing in the evening. Unless you add a little spirits. Then it's perfect.

10mm....your making my trigger finger itch...

Tennessee has lots of lakes. I crossed it a couple weeks ago and spent the night camping at Land Between the Lakes. There were plenty of lakes that appear part of the TVA flood and power projects. Where are you headed? Dogwood and plum should be blooming.
Enjoy. Such a great unwind.

I am heading out to Watts Bar lake but where I am going it would be considered the Clinch and Emory rivers that start the upper end of Watts Bar. Tennessee is nice, from my house with in 30 mins I could be on three different lakes, add an hour to that and I have my pick of 10 lakes.

I had a wonderful time, however I did learn one thing... I really enjoy fiddling with gear. Right now I think I need to turn this into a monthly trip. I failed to take a picture of the loaded canoe but I had a weeks worth of load just to see how the solo boat would handle the weight. Also made a few gear related decisions while I was out there. I need to order a general area/cook tarp (I was thinking a CCS 10x16), I need some more 2.2mm lash it rope, and I need to get some compression waterproof stuff sacks for my down quilts.

Do I hear another gear-aholic in the making? Oh is it so easy to fiddle with the gear.
Good to hear you had a great time.

Oh I have been a gear-aholic for a long time. Started out with fishing, fly fishing, backpacking, jeeps, hunting, compound bows, long bows, guns, camping, kayaks, canoes, hammocks, knives, chainsaws...

Well as you can see I go by the theory that "anything worth doing is worth over doing, mediocracy is for cowards"

Haha. Oh I left out the Glock 20 and the Benelli shotgun I will have. I mean it is turkey season and we have plenty of drunk rednecks!

Go for it bigsilver, a solo is the best medicine for a troubled mind and soul. Don't be surprised if if you stay out an extra day or two. The tough answers may just magically appear.

Go for it! Get out there, get a little exercise, a lot of sleep, and hopefully the "static" will fade away.

I may get out for my first one night solo this weekend also. There is a small island on the river delta near me that is pretty isolated. The island is a bout 100 feet across, open, grassy with oak trees on it, and it sits about 15 feet up off the river. I can be there is less that 1/2 hr from my house. Should be fun.
