At the weight listed it should be Kevlar so as long as it is in fair to better shape I'd go for it. Check for holes, repairs and creases along the sides. Even with those issues if it had been properly repaired it might be worth it. You don't find many Kevlar prisms going for less than $800.

Worth a try. A prism at that price can be resold if it didn't work out. The encounter worked well for me with a dog, but now I went to a prism. (Dogless) That is a big dog!

I have an opportunity to buy a used prism. I always take my 90 pound dog on my solos. Is there enough room in a prism for my dog and I and my gear?

Unless you are bringing a ton of gear you will be fine. I have a prism, bring a CCS Pioneer that goes right behind me and then a CCS rucksack for in the bow. There should still be room for a well behaved dog that would not move around while you were paddling. If the second pack did not fit in the bow with the dog there is still room in the stern for it. You'll have to figure out the best place for the second pack to achieve proper trim.

Thanks for the response Bogwalker. With the new format I can't find where the emails are. Since you have a prism does this Look like a good deal?

The one I was looking at was on craigslist but it's already gone. Next time I will have to jump on it a little quicker. Good deals don't last long.

I'd paddle with that dog in my Prism anyday. Beautiful dog.

on Prism: what Bogwalker said.
for reference: my Prism is a 2006 ultralight @34lbs and was purchased in near-perfect shape for $1100. I purchased it in 2008.
