I had a friend who was going to come on a trip this fall and a month ago he had to drop out so I'm going solo. I'm leaving for Ely tomorrow after work and putting into Stuart Lake EP Wednesday AM and coming home Sunday. The weather forecast is perfect, the fall colors will be close to peak and there's a good probability of seeing northern lights this week. I'm hoping to loop through Iron and Bolder Bay. This will be my longest solo and I'm guessing that I might not see anyone during the trip.

I was wanting to single portage, but based on my pack weight I think doubling would be wise. :)

Great time for walking through the woods -- even covering the same path three times. Hope you have fun. I'm heading up next Tuesday, hoping the forecast is as good as this week's.

Enjoy your trip. It should be beautiful and also very quiet mid-week, but you never really know for sure. Maybe you'll see the aurora borealis and hear wolves too! Tell us all about it when you get back.
