Posted here is info about the best and cheapest way to explore Opasquia by canoe. Ryan Carlson is the new owner of Big Hook Camps and has a transportation shuttle set up from Red Lake Ont, with a chartered 9 passenger plane. He shuttles his fishing outposts guests to Sandy Lake's airstrip. A short van trip takes you to the float plane dock where you are flown out to his base where the canoes are stored. Two Royalex tandems and a Royalex Dagger solo.
His correspondence is below:

My name is Ryan Carlson. I'm the new owner of Big Hook Wilderness Camps. Steve and Evie forwarded me an email from you inquiring about canoe outfitting.

The answer is yes, we're still renting out the canoes and are glad to arrange transportation and any other items we are able.

Please feel free to forward my email address any parties that may be thinking about a trip.

Thanks again,
Ryan

It's a beautiful and unique place for certain. Hard to get too much more remote.

We don't have a formal website or brochure for the paddlers as we see so few. Canoe rentals are a pretty static price ($50 / day), the bigger fluctuation comes as air fair - whatever our costs are is what we charge the paddlers, but these change every year.

I do have a suggested route map that I'm glad to provide any interested parties and am glad to provide any other info by email or phone that I can.

Thanks again for getting the word out about our remote corner of the world,
Ryan
