I am making plans for a three day trip on the Peace River to look for shark's teeth in March or April.

Has anyone made this trip? I am looking for any tips, recommendations and advice. There seems to be no end to the knowledge of this forum.

Thanks in advance.

I did the Peace River many years ago and it was great. It is not a wilderness experience, but it is lovely. I think it was April when I went, weather was great, water levels were high, so smooth sailing. Occasional motor traffic, buthe 'corner't it was not at all frequent. That trip was actually what bit me with the canoeing bug.

We went through one of the major outfitters in the area. Checked in, drove our cars to the pickup point and then got a lift to the drop in. We did a 6 day trip, longest stay in any spot was about 2 days. Saw the biggest gator I have encountered (I grew up in Florida), warned about a dump to the stern paddler, and quickly proceeded to hit a log mid stream.

It is a great time - all of the outfitters can point to good spots for teeth, Basically it was sandy areas just after a larger bend in the river, they would collect along the bends and shortly down river.

Scenery was good, lots of birds, lots of gators, lots of fish (MASSIVE Gar in some spots), and the people were few and far between. A lot of great memories and well worth it. BRING THE MOSQUITO REPELLENT!!

Sorry I am sketchy on the details, but I think it's been 25-30 years since the trip. E-mail if you have any specific questions I might be able to answer!
