Until I read Cheesehead's post on the Big Island Lake Wilderness I'd never heard of it. After reading what Cheesehead had to say I started looking into it. Sounds similar to Sylvania, but maybe not as well know. It's 359 miles from my house to Steuben/BILW, 507 miles to Sylvania and 775 miles to Ely, Mn. An 8 hour drive instead of a 14 hour drive. It's less than 200 miles and less than 4 hours from my cabin.
Talked myself into it. So I'm leaving Monday, Aug 23 for the cabin. Early Tuesday I'll drive up to Da Yoop and hit the Big Island Lake Wilderness. I hope to check out all the lakes and make a detailed trip report. I'm not signing a contract on that, but I do hope to bring back lots of info and pictures.
Being a Michigan resident I don't even have to get the out of state fishing license he got.
