pp - We just went thru the same process. We have the WCPP planning map from the park staff and have looked at the online planning map posted by the Wabakimi Project. We have bounced around websites, and road maps, mnr topo site, etc. We have guestimated expenses. We have looked at our available time for all our participants, etc. We decided that Wabakimi is right for us. It looks like it has fewer groups than WCPP, even in the most popular portion of the park. For us in Chicago the distance to each park is about the same. The canoe rentals we need cost about the same. Our trip looks like we will paddle in/train out which will add some to our costs, but the coolness factor of catching the train out in the woods seems well worth the price [reminds of an old Nick Adams story]. We decided not to train in as it leaves you trackside in the middle of the night. Also, since the train leaves Armstrong so late, that takes away a day in the water. For us that is a significant issue as we only have 7 days in the water.
Anyway, here are some websites you may find helpful.

Hello,

I can't decide whether WCPP or Wabakimi will be my destination for 2011. Does anyone have any comments on either, their preferences, which is more scenic, etc? As you can see, I'm looking for general impressions at this point.

Thanks,

having canoed both parks i would say i prefer Wabakimi, however if you paddle out of WC down the bloodvein river to lake winnipeg I would say that river is some of the most spectacular canoeing in our area.
