Heading out tomorrow for a week long scouting mission. Going to start with the Turtle Flambeau for 2 days. Then move over to the Sylvania Wilderness for 2 days. Then move to the Brule River for 2 days. Planning of visiting numberous waterfalls in the areas and the Blackjack, Whisker Lake and Headwaters Wildernesses.

Can't wait. Hopefully I will post a trip report when it's all done.

Please do post a trip report. All of these areas are closer to home for me for a trip, and I am interested in hearing about them.

I did the same thing earlier in June. Went on a scouting trip. Checked out the Turtle Flambeau Flowage, and the Willow Flowage. It was very windy the day I visited both, so I barely paddled either one. Compared to the lakes in Sylvania, they are huge bodies of water, which may be a bit intimidating for some canoeists.

Trip report to come, but here is the high level. Turtle Flambeau was average. We put in on Murrays Landing (good), wind was bad and could only make it to the second site. Flies were terrible. Woke up to a boat flying by (bad). Did get to paddle to the island sites (good). Sylvania Wilderness (good), enjoyed the lakes and portages but did hear some very loud music (bad). Brule River was excellent (had the whole campground to ourselves) Whisker Lake and Headwaters are interesting, just didn't get to spend as much time and investigate. Drove by Blackjack three times but never had a chance to stop. Lot more opportunities.
