quote jcavenagh: "Any info from the Borg on paddling the Mackinaw River in IL would be appreciated. Is it doable in a Kevlar boat without too much dragging/scraping? Rivers have had plenty of water all season. I know a couple places you can put in and out. The first is on route 251, just north of Hudson. The other is on county rd 2300E near Secor. There is a parking spot at both locations. I have only waded bits of these points. So I can not tell you how shallow the river can get further away from the entry points. As of this past Sunday, the river looked to be at a good level for paddling. They are getting some rain today but not enough to drive it way up, I don't think. No idea on camping along the river. You can camp at Comlara county park. It is near by and also has Lake Evergreen ( almost 1,000 acres and a 10 hp lake). The Mac river is on my list of places to paddle this year as well. Good luck if you make it. |

Good put in/take out points? Camping spots? It looks like maybe starting at Lexington and going west might be paddled with water underneath you most of the way?? |
