I did the upper Eleven Point from Thomasville, MO. I float the 3 rivers in this area as often as possible but had never done this section. It's kinda seasonal but more complicated, it might have enough water and it might not, you almost have to live there to know. I have a good relationship with Brian Sloss at Eleven Point Canoe Rental in Alton, he keeps an ear to the ground. Anyway, this is a physically difficult float but worth every nick and scratch, scenery is off the chart. I was super surprised at the nature of the river that far upstream, lots of long, deep, wide pools, some of them at least a quarter mile long. It necks down and gets a little crazy a few times but the current isn't nearly as strong as the middle section, you can line a boat anywhere without fear of being swept away. The FS is supposed to clear 2 trees some time this week, if that happens there's one low water spot and 3 places that require serious canoe skills, the rest is just really nice.
