If you are talking about BWCA/Quetico then the clear answer is smallmouth.

After that, anything that pulls hard on the gear I am using.

What is your favorite species to Target on the fly and why?

Brook Trout on a 3 wt is pretty nice as well, such a pretty fish.

When in the Bdub, I love targeting Northerns! Can't really get them back home.....my neighborhood is nestled in between two great smallmouth rivers. My pipe dream is to connect on a Laker on my flyrod....one of these days!

I've only really fly fished out west for trout, but my favorite is chasing brown trout in the fall with streamers. In late June I will be going after bass and pike in the BWCA for the first time! Bucket list is going down in the Caribbean and fishing for tarpon and bonefish.

I've caught a crappie on a black wooly bugger down here in Wisconsin that put a surprising fight for a 5 wt. It's been the most memorable fish as well since I was fishing for sunfish and bluegills and did not expect to get a crappie.

In the BWCA it would be smallmouth. Back home (TC area) it would be trout. In the salt, it is bonefish.
