Those look like the Crazy Charlie Bone fish flies I used to tie. I also have about 20 of these in a Clouser minnow pattern. They should be a good pattern for Smallmouth Bass.

Nice work. Plop those around some rock piles or brush piles and you should have some fun.


Those are brutes to cast though. I mostly fish topwater in June so I don't pretend to fish a ton of subsurface flies. But when I do, I find that a big nymph works as well as anything. I don't tie much anymore, instead buying Clouser nymphs.

All three tied by me. Taking them this summer to BWCA. Last year caught on jigs similar to these. This year using a fly rod along with spinning rod.

Those should be the ticket! I am already dreaming of catching BWCA smallies on the fly! Maybe a good thing to break out the tying gear on these cold Minnesota nights!

Now I have some of these tied by flytyer and I am eager to use them this spring. I think they look less like a jig and pig and more like a mix of a wooly bugger/clouser/crayfish.
