Hey there TL, thanks for doing this. I do quite a lot of fly fishing for stream trout in northern Michigan and for 'gills in southern Michigan. I want to start doing some fly fishing for bass/pike in the BW and similar places. Always spent a lot of time matching the hatch, which I guess isn't quite so important for Bass & Pike.

I don't know, I've had bass, pike and walleye get as finicky as a spring creek brown! But then again, I've had pike hit a fly that looked like a roadkill weasel. Ever do any brookie fishing around Negaunee? I have a Yooper buddy who's been trying to get me up there for a few years now, but that's a long haul from Bemidji, MN.

I used to do the bass bug taper on a 6 wt, but now I go with a muskie/pike taper on my 8wt, and a multi-tip line on the 6. Full sink line with a foam eye streamer has been a killer for big river 'eyes

i don't know if i can add much to this forum. i like to fly fish, but have only done so in SE Minnesota and out west. This summer i was debating of bringing a flyrod with some poppers to after smallies.

I also fly fish the SE part of MN, and do alot of panfish on the fly. This Sept I plan to take one of my fly rods to the BW, for the first time. It'll be interesting to learn from others in this forum, who have flyfished the BWCA and Quetico.

Great idea TL! Ive tried twice, and both times all ive caught have been little smallies. Mostly i used wolly buggers and deer hair flies. Special bass taper line. Im interested to see what other people use for flies and lines.

Thought I'd try and get the ball rolling on a discussion on flyfishing canoe country.
