St. Croix has excellent customer service and they stand by the warranty. They also have a program in which you can trade in the broken rod for a higher level rod for a significant discount which I have used before. If you are in the area of Park Falls Wisconsin, they have a factory store where you can find "seconds" rods for 50% off but they have only a 1 year warranty. Even so, they still repair/replace them at a reasonable cost but the seconds are not eligible for the upgrades. I think the new Legend Elite rods are excellent and the new Imperial rods are a great deal.

I have a great story about St Croix, I lost, yes lost a rod tip some how in the canyon I was fishing in. Walked out with out it and didn't know exactly where I had lost it. Wrote an email to St Croix, they said send in the rod butt and rest of rod and they replaced the tip. I had to pay like $25 for shipping and handling cant remember exact amount. But I was impressed. I even told them what a lame brain I was, and they still took care of me. WOW. SunCatcher

Has anyone had to use the St Croix warranty ? If so how did they handle it?

I've replaced several tips from St. Croix. If it wasn't a clear cut case of operating error, I think you just give them 20 bucks for return shipping when you send the rod, and they replace what needs replacing. If it was not manufacturer error, I don't think they charge more than 50 bucks
