Absolutely beautiful capture. Didn't know this forum existed till now. Have you painted more or can you post more of this project? The sorrow and bewilderment are so profound in the child's eyes I'd swear you were there walking the hard walk.
Still have that snow owl hanging in my living room. :)

This is a grant project piece for a larger body of work titled "Indigenous America: A Cultural Heritage" I was awarded a grant by the McKnight Foundation to produce this project. There will be a minimum of 10 new paintings for this project.
In this piece, I wanted to show the aftermath of the Wounded Knee Massacre, and the loss of Indigenous Cultural heritage through the eyes of a child.
