First post here, I really like the art people are creating here. I’m not an artist like most here. I’ve been making custom pens for many years and thought maybe some here would appreciate the work. I started with a block of wood, stabilized tiger oak burl. Then drill and epoxy two brass tubes inside the wood, trim to size and mount wood blocks on my lathe. I turn them on my lathe to the size then sand them to 12000 grit mirror finish. Then apply a coat of friction polish and buff. I now have two tubes of wood. Then I assemble the pen parts that I bought. This kit is nice because it has a good plating of 24kt gold and also Rodium. I really like the wood grain in this blank. You never know how it will look until you turn it.
