butthead: "Mr. Spook e-mail me, I no longer use either PN40se or PN60se. That offer taken care of I'd still suggest a new Garmin GPSMap 66st and switching over to Basecamp. I did the whole thing with Topo NA10, subscriptions, GPS's and all, far as custom mapping. I do it now on Basecamp with a 62st to the same extent. Across the items, functions and use is very similar. I do not have internet access at home, and it looks like the public computers I have access to do not allow the email function. I was debating buying a Garmin on Black Friday, the cost was less than half price but decided against it, a month later *poof* PN-30 went crazy. Being cheap, and lazy, for now I might buy another DeLorme. On my Woodland Caribou trip for example, I only used the GPS twice, beforehand marked the access road to Leano so I wouldn't miss it, and another time when I wasn't sure which bay to head to, so I aimed to the middle and turned the GPS on, a couple minutes later I was headed in the right direction without losing much time. I could have stopped paddling and done the map/compass thing, but to save time, that's why the GPS. So in short, I rarely depend on it. Now that I am used to Topo quirks, I'm too lazy to learn a new one. Next time I am headed to Milwaukee or Madison I will email you beforehand to see if we can meet up and perhaps make a deal. |

If anybody has a PN GPS for sale real cheap, I am interested. (but only if it works better than mine). I really don't want to learn a new GPS ('cuz I'm a map guy). |
