If you have specific questions about a model, there is a private group dedicated to GPS. They can tell you how to put maps on one you buy if it doesn't have them already. This may open up your options on what you buy.

I may want to buy a GPS with BWCA maps installed. I'm not sure if I really want one or not, but if someone has one for sale (maybe sell the old one and upgrade?) and the price is right, I might bite.

I have none for sale but will recommend a good starter to try out,
Used Etrex 20 or this used Etrex 20
I've set up a few of these for use in the BWCA. Not the newest but a current operating system and easily sourced maps many free.
