I’m looking to purchase a solo canoe for my wife to use for day tripping, as well as for weekend getaways.  She has been researching, and is interested in the Mad River Independence, Mad River Traveler, Hemlock Eaglet, or the Northstar Northwind Solo.  If you have one to sell, or know of one that is available, please let me know.  I need to get a paddle back in her hands!!!
Thanks,
~Scott~

Not exactly what you're looking for but Piragis has a Bell Magic ( listed as like new) in Black Gold for $2600

Not My boat , not sure where your located but here is a Traveler in Michigan, I would highly recommend the Northstar Northwind Solo as I have one. Great stability and a joy to paddle. I did have a Indy at one time It was a great boat as well. But had some issues in a cross/tail wind

I think she wants something with more capacity and a bit more room. She'll be traveling with a 75 lb dog.

Thanks

I don't know how fast you have to purchase, but consider paddlefest in Old Forge NY in mid May. At least 6 manufactures including Northstar and Wenonah and you can paddle them all. Depending on you definition of North Central PA should be 3 hours? Stay over - lots of places - I camp on an island that is a state park - but other places.

Make it a weekend and sample Placid Boat Works and Hornbeck.

Kevlar only or maybe Esquif?

The Northwind Solo is a very nice boat. I got to paddle one at the WPASCR.
She has reached out to the Mad River Traveler owner. We are located in Northern PA, so it would be a 10 hour drive both ways. However, she hasn't ruled it out yet.
Thanks,
~Scott~

I had a NW Solo as well. Solid boat, sounds like it would be a great fit for her

+4 on the NS Northwind solo...I sold mine but it is a great boat, stable, lots of capacity, sounds like a good fit for your situation.
