PineKnot: "Interested. What is the metal bar shown with the ratchet/lever that runs to both sides of the bed?"

Hi, sorry for the delay just got out of the BWCA. The bar is a ratcheting load stabilizer bar; they're sold at most hardware stores like home depot, Menards, etc. It's not at all necessary to use the canoe support system, I just always have one in my truck bed to secure propane tanks, groceries, coolers and the like. Since it's always there I just tossed it behind the diagonal supports in that picture. I've used the system without it as well and it's rock solid either way. Let me know if you'd like the rack; I'm located in Stillwater and could meet you within a reasonable distance.

UPDATE: Free truck bed canoe support that fits full-sized pickups. It sits at the front of the bed behind the cab and is secured with a ratchet strap (see picture). When combined with a bed extender bar in the trailer hitch (pictured but not for sale) it makes for a rock solid, inexpensive way to haul a canoe in a pickup that isn't equipped with crossbars over the cab. I constructed the rack entirely with green treated wood and galvanized hardware for weather resistance. The base and legs are bolted together so they can be folded up and the entire thing can fold flat for storage.

Measurements are as follows:

47.5 inches wide at the base (inside the truck bed)
50.5 inches tall
64 inch wide crossbar at the top.

I recently picked up a Spring Creek suction rack for over the cab to allow use of my roll-top while hauling canoes so I don't need this anymore.

Let me know if you have any questions or need any other measurements.
