Pikehunter: " I will have a list together this week.
Pikehunter"

I put a list together and was getting it ready to post when I was contacted by a member who is taking everything I have for sale.
He will be taking groups from his church on trips.
Great use of the gear.

Thanks Jared.

I sold my canoe a couple of years ago.

From one pike guy to another, there remains plenty of good pike water easily accessible yet still plenty remote.

Nakina, Ontario - Loaded with lakes accessible via logging roads. There is even a guy in town that has 14' boats with 9.9hp on probably a dozen different lakes up there where you can rent the outfit on a daily or weekly rate.

I've been to this area twice in September and found a lake where catching 50 pike/day was no problem. The average size ranged 2 lbs-4 lbs, but I did catch a few nice ones with the largest going 42" and 20 lbs.

I'm sure there are plenty of other Crown Land areas with the same type of easy access to pike.

Another trip you may consider....

I've stayed at Veterans on the Lake resort in Ely (Fall Lake) and day tripped into Basswood Lake fishing Pipestone and Jackfish. Using portage wheels to pull a square stern canoe with a 4 hp outboard is not difficult if there are two people (couple of hills that could make it challenging for one guy fishing solo). The pike fishing in Jackfish and Pipestone can be amazing.

I have gone to Cobblestone Lodge in Ontario for about 25 yrs. Will continue to go there. That's where I caught my 46" pike. Lake Sally. There are 50" + pike there. I plan to get one this next trip.

I think after my last trip 2 years ago at age 72 I am not doing another trip to the BWCA .
I am now almost 74 and with spinal stenosis I don't want to risk having issues.
I have a lot of gear and will be getting a list together within a few days to sell on this site as well as some others.
I will miss the trips to the wilderness, but my Dr at the VA says not to risk it.
Stay tuned.

Your Cobblestone Lodge looks a lot the the Nakina area I was talking about with many small lakes easily accessible (with big pike!).

While retiring from BWCA trips is rough, catching your 50" pike from Ontario will certainly ease the pain. I've got three pike all at 45.5"...... still looking for that 50" pike myself.

I'll watch for your sale stuff. I've got 6 and 8 year old grandsons that are ready to start learning about BWCA trips.
