I know lots of folks use hot dogs with tipups for pike. Has anyone hung them below a bobber in the BW?

They work well until the chili washes off and then their effectiveness drops dramatically.

it will stay on your hook a lot longer than a mushy smelt or ciscoe. 1 person in our ice fishing clan tried it last winter with no results , but i have heard it works , i'm sure it could produce under a float , heck i had a pike take a double float bobber off the surface and i landed it with the boober way down it's throat. why not a hot dog ?

I'm sure it could work in the summer but i'm also guessing it wouldn't be your best option. Give it a try and report back.

I heard a tale of a big largemouth bass being caught in my town on a piece of hotdog. I know they work well for catfishing. Never heard of anyone using them pike. There is one way to find out for sure........

I have gone through countless packs of hot dogs during the winter chasing northerns under tip-ups, but for some reason I've never considered it during the summer. I think I'll give it a try in the next few days....certainly would be cheaper than sucker minnows.

I always use hotdogs with some peanuts and a MLB game... your results may vary.

when I was a kid my grandmother took me fishing but she didn't want to buy bait. So she brought hotdogs. We got a bunch of turtles that day :)
