Interesting post and video on ageing walleye.


Like Savage Voyageur I am going to check the age of some walleyes on my Labor Day Quetico Trip.


Heck, I am now going to eat WALLEYE WINGS and CHEEKS too.

On average a 14.4 inch walleye weights 1 pound and is 4 years old. Nice video and you can use almost any bony structure,but it is unique to use the cheek bone for you need no microscope.

I had seen this video a few years ago and searched for it on YouTube and found it very interesting.

I'm going to try this and see if my theory is right (on my local lake) which is because of the superior forage base on Waconia, I believe they gain more weight/size once they reach that 17"+ and can eat those bigger forage minnows/perch etc. and just enjoy learning more about my local lake.
