I assume the purpose of glow stick tipped bobbers and battery powered bobbers are only for the fisher to see what's going on. I have thought about them, but figure its pointless. Fish don't care, and I have a headlamp.

I really get a kick out of seeing that lighted bobber disappear underwater. I don’t like to have too much light on like a headlamp because it wrecks my night vision.

Cc26: "Not to mention the skeeters that are attracted to the lamp. Buy the ones from Thill that don't need batteries. They have two electrodes towards the bottom of the bobber and are good for a while and fun to watch, easy to find. Seems like more of a pain to try to find it all the time with a headlamp."

I hate messing with the little glow sticks, lights, batteries, etc. Buy the Thill that turn on and off automatically. Waaaaay easier (and probably cheaper in the long run....they last forever).

Same here. No hassle that way. They hold up fairly well too.

not a big fan of the glow sticks but both the thill splash and nite brite are nice , i like the nite brite if your bobber fishing with a few people with the different colored lights available , and yes always fun watching a lighted bobber slide underneath the surface !!

newguy: "I'm not seeing the ones that Cc26 said had no batteries. Which ones are those?" thill splash , they have a battery just not a replaceable battery. if you click close up you'll see the 2 probes that make contact with the water.

Have you ever tried to find a bobber in the dark with a headlamp? If it works for you, more power to you, but it sounds miserable to me.
If I was night fishing without a lighted bobber, I would use a Lindy rig with a floating jighead.
