Look at the map. The large bay on the western side is a huge 5-6-7-10 feet deep flat, nearly covered by weeds. Run spinnerbaits and buzzbaits thru the weeds for all the pike you can stand.

It is our first time on Bald Eagle. Wondering if anyone has any insight on fish hot spots, camp site recommendation, best bait to use, points of interest. What is the water level look like? IS there a fire ban that anyone knows of, I have heard there has not been much rain up there. Thank you in advance for any feedback. "

Campsite 1729 is three sites up the Eastern shore from the south end of the lake. We really enjoyed this site. If you're using three separate tents, theres more than sufficent space for covered pads, as well as some nice coverage on the back side of the small peninsula/beach where the grill and fire pit are located (where you'll see our hammocks strung up in the photo)

Just off the south side of this campsite where the canoe landing is, there's a nice reef that we pulled some eater size walleye out of, and north of the campsite were some reeds where we pulled both smallmouth and pike, all a stone's throw from the site.

Great view toward the Western treeline and sunsets, too. Really enjoyed this spot.

Right on! I stayed at that site just a few weeks ago and we pulled walleyes and large crappies out of 7-15 feet of water straight out from camp. Also pulled in a nice northern right there at camp. Two nights, great site, spacious, breezy but not to exposed.

Welcome to the BWCA.com message board! Sorry I can't help you out with that exact lake, but I have published an article on Grand Slam Lures ( for the BWs ) and if you are interested in such info. you can send me an email - queticomike@yahoo.com - and request the Grand Slam article.

Don't forget to fish the moving water as BE flows into Gabbro. Deep weed edges , too.
