These run from the tributaries up into (eventually) Lake Erie. Northeastern Ohio has the tributaries that feed Ontario and the big steelhead -- think Brule River in northwestern Wisconsin. Both of those area waters attract a lot of fly fishermen. I'd just be happy to catch a 3lb walleye most days up north :)

Wally13: "Terry,
Very impressive size for sure. I wonder if there are any 13 lb. walleye over there? I have been trying to catch one for 40 years. "

And that's how you got your screen name?

Born and raised in that area, miss the fishing for sure. When I was a little kid fishing in the 3 rivers or the lower Yough it was strictly carp or cats, the rivers have since cleaned up tremendously, byproduct of all the mills closing. You now can catch walleye, pike, muskies and smallies in downtown Pittsburgh, and the Yough is full of trout.

This is your year Wally13. We just need to work over Stu's spot (you know where) for a few days and sooner or later we'll run into one.

Terry, are you still skipping Copia this time?

I'm still finalizing travel plans. It's 50/50 at this point whether I make it this year. I'm still planning for QP and BW trips though for this summer.

Jaywalker,

Yes. I caught a 32 inch 12 lb walleye a while ago when fishing in Opasquia Provincial Park in far NW Ontario.

My handle became Wally13 ... as my quest for the 32 + inch 13 pound walleye became an obecession

Quetico Mike has caught a Big walleye in this size that I seek. I think he posted a pic of a 34 inch walleye he caught in Basswood Lake several years ago. Mike chime in if you would and clarify the length and size of the MONSTER walleye you caught in Basswood.

One of my favorite walleye pics of all time.

I wish it was 34 inches, thanks for making it bigger for me! :) It was 32 inches, biggest walleye I have ever seen in person. The biggest pike and biggest smallmouth I have ever seen are ones that I have caught as well. Now that I think about it no one has ever caught a laker over 8 pounds in front of me, so I guess that is the biggest I have seen with my own eyes. Rarely fish for lakers. I always say I am going to spend some time chasing after a big laker but I end up spending the majority of my time chasing bronzebacks.
