Enter at East Bearskin but get permit for ep 66...don't ask, it's right:) . Canoe about 35-40 minutes to your one and only portage (I know you said no portages but its worth it) which is a moderate length portage with some elevation gain at first but then levels out pretty good. At the end of that portage you will be on Walleye Heaven Lake but on the maps it's labeled Crocodile lake.
This is mostly a dead end route so typically not very busy. There are 4 campsites and two are pretty decent but the other two are not as good. Very remote feeling lake, especially considering how close you are to your put in. Great chance of seeing wildlife. The walleye fishing is about as easy and consistent as you are going to find. It's not known for big fish but great numbers of eater size fish with some real decent fish thrown in on occasion. Also has jumbo perch and pike.
If you want easy in and out with good walleye fishing and some solitude, this would be a great choice. In camp within a few hours of dropping the canoe in the water. Only one permit per day given out.
I have a trip report of the area if you are interested and if you do some research on this site about Crocodile, you will see the comments on the walleye fishing are verified.
There are some cool daytrip possibilities from Crocodile if you are into exploring during the day. One caveat with this entry/route...you must stay all nights on Crocodile Lake. But that's a good thing.

Looking for suggestions on the best walleye fishing lake or lakes along the Gunflint area. Don’t really want to portage, just set up base camp and go fishing for a few days.

bookit, if you go up to the top of the site and click on the plus sign by the word planning, a drop down menu will appear. Click on Trip Reports, then Boundary Waters Trip Reports and a list of hundreds of trip reports posted by members will appear. In the search box you can type in the name of a member(lindylair for example) and their trip reports will come up. You can also type in the name of a lake or entry point and trip reports for those areas will appear.
There is a wealth of information to be had in these reports to help you make your decision.

You can click the "notebook" icon under any user that has trip reports they've posted and it will take you to their list of reports.

Not quite on the east side of the Gunflint, but Ogishkemuncie is a popular grand slam lake choice (walleye, pike, SMB, lake trout). It is easily reached in a day from a Seagull entry and has some nice sites for base camping. On the east side of the Gunflint (north of Brule, or even further east to places like Pine Lake) there are some options for sure as well, I'm just not familiar with them. I think Ogish would suit you well! Definitely read some trip reports to get a feel for what to expect.

Not in the Boundary Waters, but Devil Track, Two Island and Crescent lakes are full of walleyes.

Seagull, Red Rock and Alpine all hold a fair amount of walleyes. Base camp on Alpine, (1 portage in from Seagull) and you can day trip to a number of other lakes.
