One trip we had 8 guys and brought 3 pounds of leeches...and ran out of bait. Leave the Minnows and bring leeches.

Leeches tend to ball up on the hook in cold water. Rainbows early season, leeches around June.

I agree with Lannie. Always bring in a pound of lake run leeches from Babe's in Ely for our trip the first week of June. Not uncommon for me and the wife to be fishing with Gulp on the 5th day. Leeches long gone and plenty of fish tails to tell.

I usually catch my bait on the lake I’m fishing. A sinking bead headed nymph green in color does the trick. Dem big wallski’s slurp up half dead Cisco’s and run strong.

I thought in a previous thread you use live or dead suckers? You catch your own bait? This is getting funny:)

Large leeches for walleyes and small leeches under a slip bobber for crappies. Even in May, leeches are the easiest to keep alive with minimal effort
